Chris Mairs has been a Trustee of Thomas Pocklington Trust since the end of 2012.
Chris is a blind entrepreneur and an active member of the London high tech start up community. After graduating in Computer Science from Cambridge University in 1979 he worked for IBM, then co-founded Metaswitch Networks where he was Chief Technical Officer for many years.
In 1988 Chris competed as an alpine skier in the Paralympics and he captained the British Disabled Waterski team to victory in 3 world championships.
He is a patron of Fight For Sight and in 2012 he rode 1,000 miles from Lands End to John o’Groats on a tandem in 10 days to raise £100,000 towards research into the prevention of sight loss.
Chris is a fellow of The Royal Academy of Engineering and in 2014 he was awarded a CBE for services to engineering.
