Before losing my sight I worked as a Staff Nurse for the NHS for many years and also did some early years teaching. I am a mother of three and have 6 grandchildren.
I was diagnosed with Retinitis Pigmentosa in my 40s when I found myself becoming more clumsy. I am now completely blind having lost all of my sight last year. I have recently moved to Birmingham after living in Telford for a number of years. Whilst in Telford, I started a few campaigns to improve services for people with sight loss and I am glad to continue that work as part of the Birmingham Sight Loss Council.
Having worked as a nurse for so long I feel as though my area of expertise is health but I also have a vested interest in the built environment.
