Ambassador for RP Fighting Blindness, Bhavini Makwana, organised a hair, make up and skincare workshop for anyone with sight loss who wanted to learn new techniques, seek advice on looking after their skin and enjoy a make over by industry professionals.

Hosted at the Pocklington Hub on 18th March, the sold out event was a huge success. Attendees took part in four 30 minute sessions which saw professional hair and make up artists talk through a range of topics including how to create different looks using the best style and colours for individuals, easy to create hair styles as well as information about skin care routines and products.

Feedback from both the professionals and attendees has been enormously positive with one artist commenting;

“Your event has really put into depth how blindness effects a person from simple things we take for granted to the bigger things in life. This is one experience I will never forget and am blessed to have been a part of it.”

An attendee said:

“It was fun, as well as being very informative. It’s a great idea to provide activities aimed at empowering visually impaired women.”

Given the success of the workshop there is now a high demand for more and we wish Bhavini well with any future events!
