New Centre
The new Centre at Pocklington Rise opened in June 2009 and offers modern, specially designed accommodation for people with sight loss. Accommodation is provided in 54 new studio, one and two bedroom apartments, available to rent or to buy outright or on a shared ownership basis.
In addition, there are 14 one and two-bedroom apartments remaining on the site and we plan to build a further 8 two bedroom apartments in the second phase of the development, which is due for completion in Spring 2010. By then, Pocklington Rise will comprise 76 apartments.
In addition the spacious communal facilities on the ground floor, which include a restaurant, activities room, communal lounge, hairdressing salon and library/IT centre, offer a wide range of activities and entertainment not only to our residents, but to other people living in the local area.
We also have a well trained and experienced staff team to provide a 24 hour a day care and support service .

Prospective applicants have a choice of either renting or purchasing an apartment on an outright sale or shared ownership basis. For those renting, an assured shorthold tenancy is granted.
Apartments have been specifically designed with the needs of people with sight loss in mind - they provide a fully fitted kitchen with cooker and fridge, and the bathrooms in the two bedroom apartments are equippe4d with both baths and walk-in showers.

A choice of meals and snacks is provided in the bistro for those who wish to purchase them, and meals can also be provided direct to residents in their own flats.
There is a visiting chiropodist, physiotherapist and hairdresser, and an on-site shop is provided on weekday mornings offering a wide selection of provisions. Outdoor facilities include a summerhouse and patio area, along with hand-railed walkways throughout the grounds and various outdoor seating areas.
Pocklington Rise also provides two day services – the Wednesday Club and the Saturday Club – both of which are very popular with the local community.
- The Wednesday club meets every other Wednesday afternoon, providing entertainment and refreshments.
