Pocklington offers support to carers of people with sight loss

Our Stourbridge Resource Centre is marking national Carers' Week with an event on Monday 13 June where carers of blind and partially sighted people can network and learn more about our new carers' support group.

Stourbridge Resource Centre was recently successful in securing money from the Big Lottery Reaching Communities fund to extend and build on its successful pilot home support service. Known as the VIP (Very Important People) project, one of the ways this is being done is by offering carers support in the vital work they do - including respite time and access to up to date information on sight loss.

To mark the beginning of Carers' Week, the Stourbridge Resource Centre will be launching the project at an event at the David Lloyd Leisure Club in Brierley Hill on Monday 13 June between 11.00 am and 2.00pm.

Guests will have the opportunity to learn about the carers' support group, as well as gathering information on other carers' support organisations who will be taking stands at the event.

Following the opening speeches and lunch, there will be a balloon race to mark the occasion, with prizes for the lucky finders.

To reserve tickets, please contact the Resource Centre on 01384 440 333 or email src@pocklington-trust.org.uk.
