Leading sight loss charity Thomas Pocklington Trust has named Peter Corbett as its new Chief Executive, as Ron Bramley takes retirement after twelve years in the post.

Peter Corbett, the current Deputy Chief Executive, takes over on 1st January 2011.
Under Ron's leadership, Pocklington has become a leading provider of housing, care and support services for people with sight loss. He has also developed the charity's well respected research and development programme which explores new ways to improve the quality of life for people with sight loss.
Peter Corbett joined Pocklington in October 2009 as Finance Director. He was appointed Deputy Chief Executive in July 2010. He has previously held board positions at the Post Office and Sony Music, and is also a Trustee of the British Lung Foundation and Fresh Visions People.
Rodney Powell, Chairman of Trustees expressed his thanks to Ron Bramley for his contribution to the development of Pocklington and welcomed Peter Corbett to his new role. He said:
"Ron has played a pivotal role in the growth and success of Pocklington over the last twelve years. Ron's many successes include the redevelopment of our extra care sheltered housing centre at Pocklington Rise in Plymouth and a significant body of research and development work highlighting the importance of lighting and design in the homes of people with sight loss. On behalf of Pocklington I would like to express our thanks and gratitude for his sterling work and to wish him every happiness in his retirement.
"We are delighted that Peter Corbett has agreed to take on the role of Chief Executive. We have no doubt that he will offer Pocklington strong leadership in the future.
Ron Bramley said, "It's a great wrench leaving Pocklington after such a long time. I've thoroughly enjoyed my time with the charity and I'm proud of its growth and success during my time as Chief Executive."
Peter Corbett said, "Taking over from Ron will be a hard act to follow. I'm really honoured to take on this new role, and excited at the prospect of leading Pocklington in the future."
