A programme of research by University College London has informed practical guidance in:
- a housing design guide (2008) produced with Habinteg and also
drawing on research by the University of Reading - a housing factsheet (2008) for the Care Services Improvement
Partnership (CSIP) Housing Learning Information Network (LIN).
Experiences of people with dementia and sight loss (2007)
A qualitative study by Kings College London built on a review of
research in this area.
User views of research (2007)
The University of Edinburgh is building on a previous study of the views of people with sight loss on research priorities.
Guidance to improve access to services by people from black and minority ethnic communities with visual impairment (2008)
A publication will build on previous research by De Montfort University
Mary Seacole Centre and work in other settings.
A study of needs and opportunities for home-based support services (2007)
Building on research around Pocklington Centres this project will inform practical developments in services.
Experiences of hearing and sight loss (2008)
The University of Birmingham is drawing on the findings of the "Network 1000" project (Opinions and circumstances of visually impaired people in Great Britain: report based on over 1000 interviews), research at Cambridge University, and undertaking new research to develop case studies to inform service development.
An overview of models of emotional support (2008)
This review by the University of Reading may inform further research or development.
Lighting at home (ongoing)
Our programme continues research and applied work into the impact of lighting on sight loss, such as:
- an overview of the findings of the lighting research (2007) previously conducted for Pocklington by the University of Reading
- an Institute of Optometry study of the relations between eye conditions and lighting needs (2007)
- ongoing work to develop exemplar domestic lighting design (2008) by the Helen Hamlyn Research Centre.
