Thomas Pocklington Trust (TPT) and Metro Blind Sport (Metro) are pleased to announce that the partnership between the two organisations is being strengthened.
TPT, a leading sight loss charity, and Metro have built a successful partnership over the last five years.
This will be strengthened from January, 2017 when TPT will directly employ the four Metro staff members.
This will allow Metro to focus even more resources on blind sports and recreational activities, including buying sports equipment and more money to run events and hire venues.
TPT Chief Executive Peter Corbett commented: “The partnership between Metro and TPT will be further strengthened with the objective of enabling more people to participate in VI sports. We hope this will lead to further growth in Metro’s membership and a wider range of VI sports being available.”
Metro’s Chair of Trustees Amanda Green commented: “This fantastic opportunity with TPT means Metro will now be able to spend the vast majority of funds raised directly on sports and social activities for our members.”
Metro’s Director of Sport Development Roy Smith MBE commented: “I’m looking forward to the future of the partnership and how it will help Metro to grow and achieve the extremely difficult task of reaching, helping and encouraging children and adults to be more active and live a healthy lifestyle.”
