IT Support Worker

About this volunteer role

Accountable to: Volunteer Co-ordinator

Accountable for:None.

Function:To support service users over the age of 55 who have sight loss to access information technology and the internet.

Key Tasks: Responsible for assisting service users to access information technology and the internet either in a 1:1 or group setting. Effectively co-ordinate with staff, where appropriate, to ensure service users have the opportunity to participate in IT sessions. Contribute ideas towards the overall activities programme.Facilitate and lead allocated activities where appropriate with support from the Volunteer and Activities Co-ordinator.

Key Skills/Experience/Attributes Required: Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work without close supervision where appropriate. A good team player with effective communication skills. Reliable and responsible individual with enthusiasm and effective interpersonal skills. Have an interest in working with people who have a variety of abilities and are sensitive and understanding of the needs of people who have sight loss.

Special Requirements: An IT background is required. A willingness to work in an environment with guide dogs.References and a Criminal Records Bureau check will be required for all volunteer roles.
