Accountable to: Volunteer Co-ordinator
Accountable for: None
Function: To organise and facilitate quizzes, both informal and formal, at the Centre, supporting service users who have sight loss.
Key tasks: Responsible for all aspects of organising each quiz session, including setting up the quiz questions, room layout and team allocations. There may also be the necessity to promote the quiz locally to attract teams from the local community. Facilitate and lead allocated activities where appropriate with support from the Volunteer Co-ordinator. Contribute ideas towards the overall activities programme.
Key skills, experience and attributes required: Previous experience of organising and running quizzes would be an advantage. Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work without close supervision where appropriate. Reliable, confident and responsible individual, with enthusiasm and effective interpersonal skills. A good team player, with effective communication skills and an interest in working with people who have a variety of abilities. Must be sensitive and understanding of the needs of people with sight loss.
Special requirements: Clear and loud speaking voice in order to be heard by all taking part. A willingness to work in an environment with guide dogs. References and a Criminal Records Bureau check will be required for all volunteer roles.
