About this volunteer role
Accountable to: Volunteer and Activities Coordinator.
Accountable for: None.
Function: To lead and provide art and craft sessions and to enable service users over the age of 55 with sight loss to participate in them
Key Tasks: Responsible for all aspects of organising art and craft workshops for service users. Effectively co-ordinate with staff, where appropriate, to ensure service users have the opportunity to access the art and craft workshops. Work with the Volunteer and Activities Co-ordinator, staff and service users to deliver art and craft workshops. Contribute ideas towards the overall programme of activities. Recognise the needs of the service users and develop the workshops accordingly with support from the Volunteer and Activities Co-ordinator.
Key Skills/Experience/Attributes Required: Experience of delivering art workshops as well as a keen interest and enthusiasm in art and crafts.Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work without close supervision. A good team player with effective communication skills. A reliable and responsible individual, with enthusiasm and effective interpersonal skills. Have an interest in working with people who have a variety of abilities and are sensitive and understanding of the needs of people who have sight loss.
Special Requirements: A willingness to work in an environment with guide dogs. References and a Criminal Records Bureau check will be required for all volunteer roles.
