Our commitment to lived experience leadership and employment
In April 2022 we joined with seven other sight loss organisations to make a public commitment to increasing the number of blind and partially sighted people employed within our sector, including at senior management level.
We are making this commitment in recognition of both the special value brought to our workforce by people with lived experience of sight loss, and the fact that the numbers employed within our sector are lower than might be expected.
We recognise this needs to change and we have a responsibility to set an example for other sectors.
That’s why we’ve committed to specific actions and to accountability by reporting on our progress.
As we make progress we will share what we’ve learned with the wider sector, including our colleagues and partners in local sight loss organisations, to help achieve our shared ambition of greater representation of lived experience.
