I am the Head of Engagement for Thomas Pocklington Trust working as part of the Engagement team. I have been working for Thomas Pocklington trust for 2 years and as part of my job I have set up and chair the Birmingham Sight Loss Council (BSLC). As the Head of Engagement, I do a lot of work connecting with other stakeholders and relevant organisations within in the Sight Loss sector.
Previously, I was employed as a Contracting Electrical Engineer working on many big projects in and around Birmingham and the West Midlands. I worked in this role for 25 years, until unfortunately I developed Retinitis Pigmentosa, commonly known as RP. This resulted in me having to give up driving and working as an electrician.
After a lot of soul searching trying to work out which area to work in next, I decided that I would like to contribute to supporting people with Sight Loss, and this is what I do now. In my spare time my hobbies are watching my local football team where I have been a season ticket holder for many years. I also held an amateur radio operators licence which has helped me to make many friends all over the world.
