I’ve had retinopathy for ten years. Which gives me a great understanding of sight impairment.
I have worked in the sight loss sector for approximately 8 years.
I currently work at the Queen Alexandra College in Birmingham as the visual impairment training officer. I have been in this role for five years. My previous employment and volunteer roles include, rehabilitation officer at Worcestershire sight concern, teaching assistant at Victoria school and specialist art college in the multi-sensory impairment unit, NHS general and paediatric nurse, Focus Birmingham, Action for The Blind and Guide Dogs. I have been a sight loss council member since October 2017.
I really enjoy my work especially supporting people and helping them to overcome challenges.
I joined the sight loss council as I feel there are many opportunities to improve services and accessibility in Birmingham.
