Birmingham Vision works in partnership with local sight loss support and service providers to offer a comprehensive resource for people with sight loss in and around the city of Birmingham.
Birmingham Vision aims to be the ‘glue’ that unites and supports local sight loss charities and service providers to improve quality of life and promote independence for blind and partially sighted people. To do this, the organisation works to facilitate the following services:
- Eye Clinic Liaison Officers (ELCO’s) posted at ophthalmology departments in several Birmingham hospitals to support patients newly diagnosed with sight loss, as well as those who return for further or ongoing treatment.
- Rehabilitation services that enable visually impaired people to retain or regain their independence at a pace appropriate for their needs.
- Community outreach services that work with individuals and groups to reduce social isolation, build self-confidence and improve well-being.
