Works For Me employment programme
Works For Me is a free service for blind and partially sighted people who are seeking paid employment, want to retain work through sight loss or are navigating a career change.
We support blind and partially sighted people to develop skills and offer advice to transition to the workplace, navigate the job market or further their careers.
The support offered is tailored to each individual’s needs and can include:
- One-to-one via email, virtual platforms, over the phone, face-to-face with a member of our Employment Team
- Peer-led events such as webinars, networking and workshops delivered by blind and partially sighted people who can share their lived experiences in employment
- Signposting to other specialist services such as counselling, rehabilitation or training
Works For Me tech sessions
Works For Me runs a series of tech sessions for blind and partially sighted people to develop IT skills, try out assistive technology and provide tips on writing covering letters, emails and application forms.
“Lively, engaging. Really interesting, role plays were enjoyable, useful session.”
“Good to see that my feedback from a previous session, has resulted in this session. I enjoyed my mock interview; the feedback was great. Helped my nerves. This has been one of the best sessions for me.”
“Great session for my confidence, I would of wanted this support when I wasn’t working, so I could use the examples provided to answer questions effectively.”
