Emergency Fund helped NCBA secure additional funding

Last April Northumberland County Blind Association (NCBA) was just three months away from closure.  Its fundraising programme had been hit by the pandemic and its support services were needed more than ever.

It needed core funding to keep afloat. TPT awarded 10K from the Emergency Fund to help it to continue operating which enabled NCBA to lever other funding.

Julie Boyack, CEO at NCBA said: “The core funding from TPT was first to change the tide for us.  It gave other funders confidence to fund NCBA.”

NCBA used the £10K from the Emergency Fund as seedcorn funding to lever a further £70K from other sources.  This not only secured the future of the charity but also allowed it to expand its team, recruit more volunteers, provide low vision aids to service users and set up a client connect ring around service.

Julie said: “Libraries were closed so we were getting more requests for low-vision aids.  We have been able to take a step back and assess how we deliver services. Much of this we have moved to telephone and online.

“The grant from TPT spearheaded the organisation’s success and we will be forever grateful to you for this.”
