Webinar to tackle accessibility issues in colleges
In November, TPT and All Able published its research into how blind and partially sighted students access information and assistive technology. The results were staggering. The research found a lack of compliance with website regulations and little focus on inclusion, accessibility and anticipatory adjustments. It also identified an over-reliance on specialist disability/learning support staff, coupled with a general lack of staff disability awareness.
From this, we provided practical resources for colleges to get started with accessibility in ‘making colleges accessible‘.
The project doesn’t stop there. TPT and the Association of Colleges are inviting college leaders to a webinar on 19 January 2022 (2-4pm) to explore the findings and to start to look at what steps can be taken create an inclusive learning environment for students.
This webinar will explore:
- Accessibility statements and how to get them right
- The importance of having an internal policy that puts accessibility at the heart of learning
- The role of the virtual learning environment and accessibility
