Webinar to tackle accessibility issues in colleges

Date posted: 20th December 2021

In November, TPT and All Able published its research into how blind and partially sighted students access information and assistive technology.  The results were staggering. The research found a lack of compliance with website regulations and little focus on inclusion, accessibility and anticipatory adjustments. It also identified an over-reliance on specialist disability/learning support staff, coupled with a general lack of staff disability awareness.

From this, we provided practical resources for colleges to get started with accessibility in ‘Making colleges accessible‘.

Webinar to tackle accessibility issues in colleges

TPT and the Association of Colleges held an event on 19 January 2022 for college leaders to explore the findings and to start to look at what steps can be taken to create an inclusive learning environment for students.

This webinar explored:

  • Accessibility statements and how to get them right
  • The importance of having an internal policy that puts accessibility at the heart of learning
  • The role of the virtual learning environment and accessibility

“If you get it right for these learners – it will support all learners!”
