We have partnered with Fight For Sight to fund important research into myopia, commonly known as near-sightedness.
Fight for Sight has opened applications for their latest round of Small Grant Awards, including our joint award for clinical research addressing myopia.
People with myopia can see near objects more clearly than ones that are further away.
Distant objects look blurred because light coming into the eye is focused in the wrong place.
The increasing prevalence of myopia is becoming an ever-growing problem as it has an impact on quality of life and can result in complications which can lead to blindness.
Loss of vision arises mostly in people with high myopia but the mechanisms leading to the most harmful forms of refractive error remain poorly understood.
The research we are funding with Fight For Sight seeks to address this problem.
