TPT’s Head of Employment Steph Cutler, and Dan Williams of Visualise are two of the most influential disabled people in the UK, according to the Shaw Trust.

The Shaw Trust Disability Power 100 List is published yearly and recognises the outstanding work of people with disabilities across the UK. This year, we are proud to announce that two of our colleagues have been rewarded for their hard work, innovation and leadership.

Steph Cutler, who leads TPT in our work to cut the employment gap for blind and partially sighted people, is rewarded for her work with a “wide range of people’s lived experiences” and creating “informed models of disability and social change, services and workplace policies and practices, making sure inclusion is built in from the start”.

Steph was delighted to receive the award, and said: “Encouraging disabled people to fulfil their potential underpins all my work, so to be included on a list of people doing just that is a privilege.”

“The list is a great way to promote the many ways disabled people are using their talents and championing change.”

Daniel Williams, Founder of Visualise Training and Consultancy – an organisation supported by TPT – is also recognised for his fantastic work improving eyecare referral pathways for patients with low vision.
Having identified the need for a more effective referral pathway, Daniel approached Peter Corbett, CEO of TPT, and embarked on the UK-wide roadshow ‘Seeing Beyond the Eyes’ supported by TPT.

The roadshow and accompanying information pack provides opticians with the knowledge to refer patients to services that will improve their lives and independence, from podcasts and community forums, to assistive tech, healthcare charities and voluntary organisations.

Dan said: “I’m delighted to be included in the Shaw Trust Disability Power 100 List at such an early stage in my career and accept this accolade on behalf of the 2 million people in the UK with sight loss.”

“At the beginning, sight loss feels like the end but later you realise it’s just the start of seeing in a different way and having a new outlook on life. Overcoming my challenges has given me resilience, determination and the ambition needed to be successful.”
